The October 23 meeting of the Shelby County Amateur Radio Club was held at the Shelby County Sheriff Training Center building in Columbiana at 7 PM. Vice President Jim McLester W4YXU presiding. Members and guests were introduced, officers and committee members reports were suspended, allowing for adequate time for the program.
Jim Stefkovich, meteorologist, National Weather Service gave the basic Skywarn/Storm Spotter course with a question and answer period following.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 PM.

SCARC Meetinh Minutes Oct 9, 2008

Call to Order by President Bill Davidson KW4J @ 7:00 PM and the attendees were asked to introduce themselves. There were no visitor present.
Vice President Jim McLester reported that the program for the Nov. 13 meeting would be SKYWARN Training given by ALERT and the venue will be the Shelby County Sherriff's Training Center in Columbiana.
There will be no meeting for Nov. 27 (Thanksgiving) and the December 11 meeting date will be the Christmas Party.
Treasurer Jack Evans, KC4PZA gave current balances on Club accounts
Three new member applications were read and approved for membership:
Leonard R Smith, Jr. KJ4AHJ
Kristin Smith KJ4GNZ
Timothy Smith KJ4GNY
VE Testing Committee Chairman Joe Ford reported that the next SCAARC test date is December 5.
Webmaster John Murphy KA4ZXL reported that his computer was in the shop, but current information would be added ASAP. President Davidson commended John on the excellent SCARC web page.
New Business:
Plans are proceeding for installation on radio equipment at the
Red Cross meeting site.
Work will continue on the barbecue shed at the Shelby County EMC location.
President Davidson reported that a basic Skywarn class for Jefferson County will be held on Oct. 18, and an advanced class on Nov. 8.
Two silent keys were noted:
