A Regular Meeting of the Shelby County Amateur Radio Club was held at the American Red Cross office on Valleydale Road in Hoover. The meeting was called to order by President Bill Davidson KW4J who asked the attendees to introduce themselves. A total of 30 members were present and 1 visitor – Randy Wilson.
The President gave information and details on several upcoming events, including the Alabaster Cityfest on June 9, ARRL Field Day on June 29 and OMIK National Convention on July 15-18.
Officer reports were suspended in order to give sufficient time for the program.
Tom Appleby W4TCA Shelby County EMC related future emergency communication items of interest to members and requested member participation.
The Program was given by Joe Ford K4NVJ – A display and demonstration of the Elecraft K3 Transceiver. A question and answer period followed.

SCARC Minutes March 13,2008
A regular meeting of the Shelby County Amateur Radio Club was held at the Shelby County EMA office in Columbiana. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by President Bill Davidson KW4J. Members were introduced by name and call sign.One visitor was present, Nathan Reese.
President Davidson announced that the Alabama QSO party would be held on June 7 and suggested participation as a Club Station.
The Ft. Walton Fl Hamfest will be held on March 31.
The Dayton Hamvention will be on 5/15-5/18. ARRL Field Day will be the week end of June 27.
Treasurer Jack Evans KC4PZA reported as follows:
Checking account $106.85
Savings account $ 2.200.89
Repeater account $1,277.00
Tom Appleby W4TCA. Shelby County EMC gave details on upcoming emergency preparedness events.
Joe Ford K4NVJ – VE Testing Chairman said 9 applicants attended the last testing session. He informed the Club that BARC VE testing will also take place at the Red Cross Office. April test date is the first Friday in April at 6:00 P.M.
Bob Thomas KC4AF – Repeater Chairman stated that better coverage is necessary for the Chelsea area and probably an additional remote might be helpful.
The President said the Club and BARC will pool their money and buy an 100 dollar ad in the OMIK convention program which will be in July. It was suggested that both clubs assist in this event if called on.
The Alabaster Crafts Fair will be held on June 6 and SCARC will have a table/display.
Bob Thomas said volunteers are needed to man the booth.
Marc Thomas KF4YHP accepted the position of 2009 Field Day Chairman.
President Davidson announced that annual elections will be held in July and a nominating committee will be named shortly. He asked for any volunteers for the committee contact him.

Minutes of SCARC meeting of February 26, 2009
The regular meeting of the Shelby County Amateur Radio Club was called to order by the President Bill Davidson at 7:00 P.M. Members attending were recognized by name and call sign. One visitor was present and was recognized - Al Schilling.
President Davidson said that the Club would have a table at the Birminghamfest, and payment for the space had been made. He also announced that he has obtained the ARRL handouts for the Alabaster Arts and Crafts Day on June 6, 2009. The Treasurer is currently processing the request for a space. Bob Thomas KC4AF asked for volunteers to assist with this function.
Bob stated that 2 new D Star repeaters were now active in the area. One is located at Red Mountain and the other is near Anniston (Coldwater Mountain Repeater Association). Details are forthcoming.
Vice President Jim McLester W4YXU is working a program schedule for the Club’s second meeting nights.

Ed Manley W4AGA presented the Club with a Yaesu FT-8100 uhf/vhf transceiver on behalf of the estate of K4SCI.
The program was given by Don Keith N4KC concerning the special event station N9N which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the USS Nautilus’ voyage to the North Pole.
