Call to order was given by President Bill Davidson KW4J, at 7:00pm at the Red Cross Office and the attendees introduced themselves. Three visitors were recognized : Patty King, KJ4FTZ, Harold Taylor, N4AFC, and Jim Corbitt, W4XWA.
Vice President Jim McLester, W4YXU, announced that for the August and September Program meetings Hub, N4HUB, Ed ManleyW4AGA will speak on their recent trip to assist in the Iowa floods (Aug) and Les Rayburn, N1LF will brief the clug on the Incident Command System (ICS) (Sep).
Treasurer Jack Evans, KC4PZA, gave the following bank balances:
Savings - $1,945.89
Checking - $131.41
Repeater fund - $1,191.07.
No outstanding bills.
Secretary Frank Hoult, KI4VVI, told the club that the Birmingham News is still announcing our meetings in their Wednesday Shelby News edition and that he is working with the Shelby County Reporter newspaper to also cover our meetings. He told the group about the 4 members who were listed in the September QST.
President Bill Davidson :
(1) passed around the latest edition of the Tuscaloosa ARC publication HAMSAY
(2) asked for anyone interested in future D-Star tutorial classes, and
(3) told members to go to WWW.OCTOPART.COM should they need any electrical parts.

VE Committee Chairman Joe Ford, K4NVJ, announced that that the last session, 11 individuals were tested, 9 technicians, 1 general and 1 extra.
Repeater Committee Chairman Bob Thomas KC4AF reported that he is working on the repeater batteries and Jim McLester included a short status report on the Arcomm controller.
Bill Davidson said that a new DStar radio and a new antenna are on order for the communications at Shelby EMA. He also reminded the club about the October 31st EMCOMM tutorial to be held at the EMA headquarters. He went on further to say that September is EMCOMM month and that the club may begin sending practice messages on the Tuesday night (8pm) net.
Webmaster John Murphy KA4ZXL said that he is currently updating the club's webpage.
Election Committee report - Ken Caruso KS4NX reported that the slate of nominations is not yet complsted but he will have one by the next August meeting (28th).
President Davidson asked for a volunteer to head the club's Christmas party committee. Patty King came forward and was approved by the club to head this year's party.
President Davidson asked for volunteers tfor the installation of radio gear at the Shelby Red Cross and this includes the dismantle of the antennas at the Public Safety Building (former meeting site).

Bob Thomas announced that he is driving a 15 passenger van to the Huntsville Hamfest. He will leave the Red Cross parking lot on the 16th at 6:30am and will return around 6:30pm. Plans include a stop for breakfast. He asked for a $10 donation.
