Minutes of SCARC meeting of February 26, 2009

The regular meeting of the Shelby County Amateur Radio Club was called to order by the President Bill Davidson at 7:00 P.M. Members attending were recognized by name and call sign. One visitor was present and was recognized - Al Schilling.

President Davidson said that the Club would have a table at the Birminghamfest, and payment for the space had been made. He also announced that he has obtained the ARRL handouts for the Alabaster Arts and Crafts Day on June 6, 2009. The Treasurer is currently processing the request for a space. Bob Thomas KC4AF asked for volunteers to assist with this function.

Bob stated that 2 new D Star repeaters were now active in the area. One is located at Red Mountain and the other is near Anniston (Coldwater Mountain Repeater Association). Details are forthcoming.

Vice President Jim McLester W4YXU is working a program schedule for the Club’s second meeting nights.

Treasurer Jack Evans, KC4PZA gave report as follows:

Checking account $39.80
Savings account $2,200.89
Special account $1,252.58

Tom Appleby W4TCA was available to take photo IDs for badges for members that have completed necessary EMA training. Members were informed of possible severe weather for the next few days.

One new member application was presented and approved – Joey Ciza WN4AT.

Jack Evans presented certificates to Traffic Net Managers.

Ed Manley W4AGA presented the Club with a Yaesu FT-8100 uhf/vhf transceiver on behalf of the estate of K4SCI.

The program was given by Don Keith N4KC concerning the special event station N9N which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the USS Nautilus’ voyage to the North Pole.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM
