At 7:00 PM a regular meeting of the Shelby County Amateur Radio Club at the American Red Cross Office on Valleydale Road was called to order by President Bill Davidson KW4J who asked the attendees to identify themselves by name and call sign. Three visitors were present and welcomed: Robert Fortenberry, KG4TZH, Bob Warner, KR4JT and Mark Hobson, KE4ZBW.
The following upcoming events were noted
· Birmingham Fest May 2 and 3.
· Dayton Hamvention May 15-17
· Alabaster City Fest June 6
· Alabama QSO Party June 6
· ARRL Field Day June 27 and 28
SCARC Field Day activity will be held at the Shelby County EMA in Columbiana.
Vice President Jim McLester W4YXU said that three upcoming programs will be ARRL Power Point Presentations.
Treasurer Jack Evans, KC4PZA reported:
· Savings account $3,935.89
· Checking account $110.85
· Repeater account $1,283.30
· No bills outstanding
One new member application was read and voted into membership: Randy Wilson, KJ4KZS
President Davidson stated that correspondence was sent to OMIK noting BARC and SCARC recognition and support of the July Convention.
Bob Thomas KC4AF was recognized as the chairman of the Nmination Committee Chairman. Other members are Jim McLester W4YXU, Marcus Thomas KF4YHP, and Rod Scott N1YZ.
John Outland K3FP presented his pneumatic antenna launcher.
Alex Davies announced the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure to be held on April 25 and asked for volunteer radio operators to assist with the race.
Program Chairman and Vice President Jim McLester W4YXU presented an ARRL Power Point program on Repeater Basics.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM.
