Minutes of April 10, 2008 Regular Meeting

A call to order was given at 7:00pm One visitor was recognized, Frank Carlisle, W4SVA. VP,

Jim McLester, W4YXU, announced that Program Nights for April, May & June have been established.

Treasurer Jack Evans, KC4PZA, announced the following club bank balances:
Savings $2,257.53
Checking $39.37
Repeater fund $979.43.
Jack also mentioned that he is in the process of submitting a letter to the Red Cross for the billing of abandoned assets.

Secretary Frank Hoult, KI4VVI, reporteded that The Birmingham News has recently publisized the club's meetings in a few of their issues.

MEC Rod Scott, N1YZ, mentioned about linking the Greene County repeater (145.370mhz) to the club's repeater.

President Bill Davidson, KW4J, announced that BARC is requesting volunteers for their upcoming Hamfest in May. He also requested that all members who are ARRL members, to use ARRL's e-mail address. He also announced that the ARECCF-001 course was a success.

VE, Joe Ford, K4NVJ, said that 4 individuals took the recent license test and that all of them passed, one new tech and 4 upgrades to General.

President Bill Davidson read an e-mail from Eddy Lary asking the club to link the Greene County repeater to SCARC's repeater. Repeater chairman Bob Thomas, KC4AF asked that the name and phone number of the linking repeaters be listed. Steven Moss, KB4FKN discussed the ALERT group's issue with the linking project.

Red Cross liaison, Jack Evans, asked all members to join in and be listed on the EMA Emergency Contact List. He will contact each member asking them to join.

Web Master Rod Scott praised John Murphy KA4ZXL for his excellent work on the club's website.

Shelby EMA liaison Rod Scott, mentioned that all modes of communication be established at the EMA before the upcoming Field Day in June.

Red Cross relocation liaison Rod Scott passed out lists of equipment available for installation at the new location.

Field Day leader/chairman Joe Ford recognized the new venue change to the EMA headquarter in Coumbiana and that team leaders would be assigned at a later date.

President Bill Davidson remindied everyon of the upcoming Alabama QSO party on June 7.

Steven Moss asked for volunteers for the Diabetes Bike Ride on April 26th and that the Oak Mountain Search & Rescue Training exercise has been rescheduled for May 17th.

The club voted Frank Carlisle W4SVA in as a new member. (Wecome back, Frank!)

Bob Thomas announced that bus service will be available for the 100th birthday party for Pete Sides W4AUP to be held in Montgomery.

The meeting adjourned at 8:22pm.
